Worship in Spirit & Truth Part 12 - "A Contrite Heart"
"John 4:23 - But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him."
In Psalms 51 we read and see that David came to realize what God really wanted from him. He says to the Lord that God doesn't desire offerings and burnt offering. That is not really what He wants, but what He seeks for is a broken spirit and a contrite heart. When last was your spirit broken before God, or are you on such a level that you don't have to be broken before God? And your heart, do you have a contrite heart, a heart that is always repenting and always submitting to God? Because this is what a true worshipper always have, a broken spirit and a contrite heart. We are always less and God is more, we are always nothing and God is everything. You see the moment when we acknowledge the sovereignty of God, and that we are nothing in His presence and fall flat on our faces before Him, He steps in our worship and show Himself strong. We don't need all those fancy goodies, and plans for excellence to show God's presence. (Well, it can be important to a certain degree.) God needs to show Himself strong, and He only works through humble and obedient vessels, and He seeks for people with honest and upright hearts who can worship Him in spirit and truth.
